In Coreglia
There are a couple of restaurants in the village. For more formal, traditions pasta dishes try Ristorante L’Arcile, not the cheapest but good homemade pasta. If you want a quick pizza try the campsite called Camping Pian d’Amora, basic but not bad.
Fornaci di Barga and Barga
We think the best local pizza is found at Pizzeria Trovoposo, very relaxed and serving delicious pizza.
La Bionda, website here, in Fornaci di Barga, is also good and also serves traditional local food.
On the left hand side of the road at the far end of the town is the best ice cream shop in the area, Theobroma Capolavori di Dolcezza.
One of our favourite restaurants is in Barga and is called Ristorante L’Altana, no pizzas but really good home made food. It’s best to book on +390583723192.
If you walk around Barga you’ll there are several other places to eat particularly in the old town.
Further afield
A 25 minute drive will take you to Bagni di Lucca, we’ll often head to Ristorante del Sonno, website.
For a very traditional restaurant we recently visited Ristorante Pizzeria Da sandra di Serena Giusti, a short drive into the mountains opposite Piano di Coreglia, it’s an interesting drive and the food was good. It took about 20 minutes door to door.
In Lucca it’s probably best just to wander about and see what appeals to you, lots of places are geared for tourists but you will also find places that where the locals eat. Here are a couple of restaurants we have visited and enjoyed.
If you just want a slice of pizza on the hoof like the locals you have to try Pizzeria da Felice.
If you want top local nosh this place is great, you have to book at busy times Osteria Barella, website.
Pretty much next door is Locanda Tre Merli, not the most atmospheric place but decent pizza and pasta.
